1. Long-time behavior of solutions to free boundary problems modeling tumor evolution.
1. 模拟肿瘤演化的自由边界问题解的长时间行为PMID:日期:2022-04-26In this paper, we consider some free boundary problems that arise in the mathematical modeling of cancer and its treatment. In these models, a parameter is introduced to represent either the killing rate of the cancer cells by the T cells or a drug called checkpoint inhibitor. We study the long time behavior of the tumor as the parameter varies.

2. WELL-POSEDNESS OF A MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF DIABETIC ATHEROSCLEROSIS WITH ADVANCED GLYCATION END-PRODUCTS.
2. 伴有晚期糖基化终末产物的糖尿病动脉粥样硬化数学模型的适定性PMID:日期:2022-04-06Atherosclerosis is a leading cause of death worldwide; it emerges as a result of multiple dynamical cell processes including hemodynamics, endothelial damage, innate immunity and sterol biochemistry. Making matters worse, nearly 463 million people have diabetes, which increases atherosclerosis-related inflammation, diabetic patients are twice as likely to have a heart attack or stroke. The pathophysiology of diabetic vascular disease is generally understood. Dyslipidemia with increased levels of atherogenic LDL, hyperglycemia, oxidative stress and increased inflammation are factors that increase the risk and accelerate development of atherosclerosis. In a recent paper [53], we have developed mathematical model that includes the effect of hyperglycemia and insulin resistance on plaque growth. In this paper, we propose a more comprehensive mathematical model for diabetic atherosclerosis which include more variables; in particular it includes the variable for Advanced Glycation End-Products (AGEs)concentration. Hyperglycemia trigger vascular damage by forming AGEs, which are not easily metabolized and may accelerate the progression of vascular disease in diabetic patients. The model is given by a system of partial differential equations with a free boundary. We also establish local existence and uniqueness of solution to the model. The methodology is to use Hanzawa transformation to reduce the free boundary to a fixed boundary and reduce the system of partial differential equations to an abstract evolution equation in Banach spaces, and apply the theory of analytic semigroup.

3. Discontinuous Galerkin isogeometric analysis for segmentations generating overlapping regions.
PMID:日期:2019-12-06In the Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) framework, the computational domain has very often a multipatch representation. The multipatch domain can be obtained by a volume segmentation of a boundary represented domain, e.g. provided by a Computer Aided Design model. Typically, small gaps and overlapping regions can appear at the patch interfaces of such multipatch representations. In the current work, we consider multipatch representations having only small overlapping regions between the patches. We develop a Discontinuous Galerkin (DG)-IGA method that can be immediately applied to these representations. Our method appropriately connects the fluxes of the one face of the overlapping region with the flux of the opposite face. We provide a theoretical justification of our approach by splitting the whole error into two components: the first is related to the incorrect representation of the patches (consistency error) and the second to the approximation properties of the IGA space. We show bounds for both components of the error. We verify the theoretical error estimates in a series of numerical examples.

4. Normal mode analysis of 3D incompressible viscous fluid flow models.
4. 三维不可压缩粘性流体流动模型的简正模态分析PMID:日期:2019-03-25In this paper, we study the normal mode solutions of 3D incompressible viscous fluid flow models. The obtained theoretical results are then applied to analyze several time-stepping schemes for the numerical solutions of the 3D incompressible fluid flow models.

5. Space-time finite element methods stabilized using bubble function spaces.
PMID:日期:2018-09-24In this paper, a stabilized space-time finite element method for solving linear parabolic evolution problems is analyzed. The proposed method is developed on a base of a space-time variational setting, that helps on the simultaneous and unified discretization in space and in time by finite element techniques. Stabilization terms are constructed by means of classical bubble spaces. Stability of the discrete problem with respect to an associated mesh dependent norm is proved, and a priori discretization error estimates are presented. Numerical examples confirm the theoretical estimates.

7. A second-order dynamical approach with variable damping to nonconvex smooth minimization.
PMID:日期:2018-07-09We investigate a second-order dynamical system with variable damping in connection with the minimization of a nonconvex differentiable function. The dynamical system is formulated in the spirit of the differential equation which models Nesterov's accelerated convex gradient method. We show that the generated trajectory converges to a critical point, if a regularization of the objective function satisfies the Kurdyka- Lojasiewicz property. We also provide convergence rates for the trajectory formulated in terms of the Lojasiewicz exponent.

8. A discontinuous Poisson-Boltzmann equation with interfacial jump: homogenisation and residual error estimate.
PMID:日期:2015-11-04A nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation with inhomogeneous Robin type boundary conditions at the interface between two materials is investigated. The model describes the electrostatic potential generated by a vector of ion concentrations in a periodic multiphase medium with dilute solid particles. The key issue stems from interfacial jumps, which necessitate discontinuous solutions to the problem. Based on variational techniques, we derive the homogenisation of the discontinuous problem and establish a rigorous residual error estimate up to the first-order correction.

9. Dynamics of populations with age-difference and diffusion: localization.
9. 具有年龄差异和扩散的种群动力学:局部化PMID:日期:1988"In this paper we study the behavior of the solutions of the Gurtin-MacCamy model for the dynamics of populations with [spatial] diffusion and age-dependence. We give sufficient conditions on the birth and death modules for the population to remain localized in a fixed interval or to ultimately cover all the domain."
