1. Biomimetic materials for sustainable microbial pesticide formulations.
1. 用于可持续微生物农药制剂的仿生材料PMID:日期:2026-10-05Microbial pesticides offer a sustainable alternative for crop protection due to their target specificity, low resistance risk, and environmental compatibility. However, their practical application is hindered by poor environmental tolerance to ultraviolet radiation, high temperature, and desiccation, as well as short shelf life and inadequate foliar retention. Traditional formulations such as wettable powders and suspension concentrates often provide limited protection or controlled release. Biomimetic materials inspired by natural structures including biofilms, plant cell walls, and mussel adhesive proteins have been developed to address these bottlenecks. This review introduces the design principles, carrier types (polysaccharides, proteins, synthetic polymers, and biomineralized frameworks such as metal-organic frameworks), and preparation strategies of biomimetic systems for microbial pesticides. These materials enhance resistance to environmental stresses, enable stimuli-responsive controlled release triggered by pH or pathogen secreted enzymes, improve adhesion and colonization on hydrophobic crop surfaces, and extend storage stability. This review also discusses safety concerns, including toxicological evaluation, environmental fate, ecological risks, and impacts on non-target organisms, and provides a thorough analysis of current challenges related to cost effective production, scalability, and the lack of standardized safety assessment frameworks. Future research should urgently focus on biodegradable, biocompatible, and intelligently responsive biomimetic carriers; systematically evaluate the long-term degradation behavior and fate of biomimetic carriers in real agricultural environments; and establish scalable evaluation indicator systems for industrial production, thereby bridging the gap between laboratory research and field applications.

Their stability under high-energy particle irradiation concurrent with illumination is, however, a crucial consideration for space photovoltaic applications. Here, we investigate for the first time 3J-PSCs under high-energy (68 MeV) proton irradiation using complementary and measurements in the dark and under AM0 illumination, respectively. dark current density-voltage (-) evolution reveals no pronounced cumulative degradation under proton irradiation, with the PCE remaining factor, (PCE), remaining above 0.99 at a fluence of 1 × 10 p cm. At the same time, stable radiation-induced current and voltage are observed, consistent with radiation-induced charge-carrier generation through ionizing energy loss. Under simultaneous AM0 illumination, both proton-irradiated and non-irradiated devices exhibit closely similar performance evolution, with stable open-circuit voltage () and short-circuit current density () alongside a gradual fill factor (FF) reduction, reaching comparable final (PCE) values of approximately 0.87. This indicates that no pronounced additional proton-induced performance loss is resolved under the investigated conditions. Intensity-dependent photoluminescence quantum yield (iPLQY) measurements show that the quasi-Fermi level splitting (QFLS) of the individual subcells remains unchanged and pseudo-- (p-) analysis further confirms preserved absorber-level performance potential after irradiation. Together, our experiments reveal a high tolerance of 3J-PSCs to radiation-induced degradation both in the dark and under simultaneous AM0 illumination, showing higher remaining performance than the III-V 3J solar cells under comparable proton energy and fluence, while also highlighting operational instabilities of today's 3J PSCs under continuous AM0 illumination.

3. {"_":"从氧化态重新定义到奇异二维磁性:1T-CrTe的统一图像。","sub":["2"]}PMID:日期:2026-10-05The origin of the exciting magnetic and topological properties of the layered material 1T-CrTe has long been obscured by an ambiguity in its formal oxidation states. By evaluating a broad range of structural, electronic, and magnetic observables available in the literature using density functional theory (DFT) and Wannier-based analysis, our integrated computational investigation shows that 1T-CrTe is characterized by self-hole-doped Te 5p ligands, corresponding to a formal low-valent Cr/Te electronic configuration rather than the previously assumed Cr/Te state. This unexpected Cr/Te finding provides an unprecedented, unified framework that rationalizes the existing experimental data. Our work further unveils a previously overlooked Cr 3d-Te 5p interaction, which places the anion's p-orbitals at the heart of the system's magnetism. A thorough understanding of the underlying nature of electronic and magnetic properties is essential for the design of spintronic devices and the discovery of new topological phases driven by correlated magnetism.

4. 3d transition metal (Fe, Co, Ni, Cu) compounds for electrocatalytic nitrate reduction to ammonia: fundamentals, strategies, and progress.
4. 用于电催化硝酸盐还原制氨的3d过渡金属(Fe、Co、Ni、Cu)化合物:基础、策略与进展PMID:日期:2026-10-05Under ambient conditions, electrocatalytic nitrate reduction (eNORR) converts nitrate pollutants into ammonia, enabling sustainable ammonia production and wastewater treatment. However, practical applications are limited by the lack of efficient, selective, and stable electrocatalysts. 3d transition metal compounds are low-cost, tunable alternatives to noble metals. This review summarizes recent progress on these materials for eNORR, covering reaction mechanisms, synthesis methods with strategic selection criteria for structural engineering targets, and four performance-enhancing strategies including vacancy engineering, doping engineering, interface engineering, and multi-strategy synergy, elucidating their structural and electronic modulation mechanisms on nitrate adsorption, intermediate conversion, active hydrogen (*H) utilization, and side reaction suppression. Current challenges and future directions are also discussed, including dynamic mechanism analysis, industrial-scale performance, and real wastewater testing. This review aims to guide the rational design of high-performance eNORR catalysts and advance practical green ammonia synthesis.

PMID:日期:2026-10-03The grain boundary diffusion (GBD) process shows advantages in enhancing coercivity and reducing the usage of heavy rare earth (HRE) elements in Nd-Fe-B magnets but faces challenges in Ce-rich Nd-Ce-Fe-B magnets. Here, we investigated the effects of the intergranular CeFe phase on Dy diffusion in sintered Nd-Ce-Fe-B magnets with 13 wt% Ce. The results revealed that the intrinsically higher diffusion efficiency of Dy in the liquid phase triggers preferential Dy segregation in the RE-rich phases, resulting in non-uniform Dy-rich grain shell formation. The dissolution of Dy in the CeFe phase reduces the available Dy atoms for the formation of an effective Dy-rich shell, limiting coercivity enhancement to only 217.7 kA m DyH GBD. A tailored grain boundary engineering (GBE) strategy was proposed to overcome this limitation. Pr-Al-Ga alloy was initially employed to substantially reduce the CeFe phase content and form a RE-rich phase-dominated grain boundary structure in the magnet, enabling subsequent highly efficient DyH diffusion. Specifically, the Pr-Al-Ga GBE process slightly increased the coercivity by 205.6 kA m, while the subsequent DyH diffusion led to a further substantial increase of 500.7 kA m. Finally, this grain boundary engineering-assisted diffusion led to a remarkable coercivity enhancement of 706.3 kA m, which is comparable or even higher than those of the DyH-diffused Ce-free Nd-Fe-B magnets. Importantly, validation with TbH diffusion suggests that the proposed strategy is potentially applicable to different HRE diffusion sources. This work not only provides a feasible approach for breaking through the coercivity enhancement limitation of Ce-rich Nd-Ce-Fe-B magnets but also elucidates the critical role of the intergranular phase structure in GBD.

7. {"_":"Multicolor coupling perception enabled by a C8-BTBT/MoS p-n junction phototransistor.","sub":["2"]}
PMID:日期:2026-10-02Mimicking biological multicolor perception remains a key challenge for artificial vision systems. Herein, we developed a C8-BTBT/MoS p-n junction phototransistor that mimics retinal trichromatic coupling through spatiotemporal dynamics and neuromorphic plasticity. The photogenerated carriers separate through the photovoltaic effect between p-type C8-BTBT and n-type MoS, enhancing the photoresponse and inducing photogating-mediated memory. Following the Bienenstock-Cooper-Munro (BCM) learning rule, the device exhibited wavelength-selective synaptic plasticity. Short-wavelength light (450 nm) triggered rapid carrier dynamics and strong memory, whereas long-wavelength light (635 nm) elicited sustained responses, resembling biological neural adaptation. The p-n junction performed pseudo-color image processing by mapping grayscale inputs to RGB through multi-wavelength modulation, achieving in-memory color reconstruction with reduced latency and power consumption. This p-n junction phototransistor integrates sensing, storage, and processing, overcoming traditional von Neumann bottlenecks.

8. A multifunctional Janus metamaterial with a tunable anisotropic layer for universal Laplacian field control.
PMID:日期:2026-10-02Multifunctional metamaterials have enabled the tailored manipulation of multiphysical fields, driving advancements in frontiers such as flexible electronics, advanced thermal management, and energy conversion. However, their practical deployment in complex environments requires not only structural compactness but also the ability to switch dynamically among multiple operations. Here, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a compact and tunable bilayer Janus metamaterial that achieves on-demand switching among concentration, rotation, and transparency functions in both thermal and electric fields, a methodology that can be readily extended to arbitrary Laplacian fields. This multifunctionality originates from engineered anisotropic thermal and electrical conductivity tensors, realized by alternately stacking high- and low-conductivity layers, which allow directional control of heat flux and electric current density. Specifically, by dynamically reorienting the anisotropic principal axis, the system exhibits controllable concentration, transparency, and rotation effects when the Laplacian flux passes parallel, perpendicular, or at an oblique angle relative to the layered stripes, respectively. Based on the mathematical isomorphism underlying the Laplace equation, this approach provides a readily implementable strategy for advanced multiphysical field regulation.

9. Rapid growth of tungsten nanosheets on TiN surfaces for high-k metal gate devices: a first-principles study.
PMID:日期:2026-10-02As semiconductor devices scale to the nanometer level, high-k metal gate (HKMG) technology is widely adopted, but power consumption becomes problematic due to effective work function (EWF) shifts caused by interface dipoles at high-k dielectrics. Inserting an AlO layer at the dielectric/gate interface reduces power consumption by adjusting the EWF, but it significantly slows W gate deposition. Experimentally, introducing a TiN layer on AlO promotes fast and uniform W growth, yet the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Here, density functional theory calculations reveal the nucleation and growth of W on AlO and TiN surfaces. We identify stable AlO(II)-terminated AlO(001), TiN(001), and N-terminated TiN(111) surfaces and their most stable W adsorption sites. As more W atoms adsorb, a W cluster forms on AlO and a W nanosheet develops on TiN, with stronger W adsorption on TiN during nucleation. In the growth step, W binds more strongly to the W nanosheet than to the W cluster, further accelerating W deposition. These strong W adsorption on TiN are attributed to the robust W-N bonding, forming uniform W metal nanosheets. Our findings clarify the nucleation and growth mechanisms of W deposition and suggest the optimal surface for cost-efficient HKMG production with improved electrical performance.

10. Electro-mechanical stimulation during differentiation of neural stem cells derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells enhances neuronal network organization and activity.
10. 在源自人诱导多能干细胞神经干细胞分化过程中的机电刺激增强了神经网络组织和活动PMID:日期:2026-10-02Neural stem cells derived from human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC-NSCs) offer a powerful model for neurodevelopment. While electrical stimulation is known to enhance the differentiation of hiPSC-NSCs into neuronal cells, the effects of co-stimulation remain unexplored. We applied an electro-mechanical co-stimulation system featuring a stretchable microelectrode array (S-MEA) to investigate its effects on neuronal differentiation and network organization. Co-stimulation during the transition from hiPSC-NSCs to neurons yielded mixed neuronal populations, as confirmed by lineage-specific marker expression. Artificial intelligence-assisted image analysis revealed stimulation-dependent differences in neurite outgrowth and network architecture. In particular, the Co condition, combining 20% mechanical strain with an electric field of 1 V cm at 1 Hz, showed prominent directional neurite organization and features of emerging neural microcircuit organization, together with relatively high activity-associated fluorescence responses among the tested conditions. Dynamic calcium-associated and membrane-voltage fluorescence responses differed across the stimulation conditions compared with the unstimulated control. These findings indicate that electro-mechanical stimulation is associated with condition-dependent differences in neuronal structural organization and activity-associated fluorescence responses during differentiation. The observed directional neurite organization and fluorescence responses are consistent with a potential contribution of mechanotransduction-related processes, although the underlying molecular mechanisms were not directly assessed. Overall, electro-mechanical co-stimulation provides a platform for investigating how combined biophysical cues influence neuronal differentiation and network organization .
